Max Lifts Busted [Sep. 25th, 2012|01:03 pm]

So I know that Terri is probably still going to think that I'm weak ;) But I busted my max lift plateau last week and I'm really proud! I am slowly but surely edging up in how much I can lift.

So, my current max lifts are as follows :

Deadlift - 75kg
Squats - 80kg
Bench - 40kg

I was especially proud of the bench because I failed to lift 40 unassisted the week before, and the previous time I tried for that max lift in a program I failed rather disappointingly. So! Plateau officially smashed!

I've now set myself some new max lift aims of 85kg in dead, 90 in squats and 45 in bench. Starting the new program on Sunday. Excited for the future!

Ao Dai part 2 [Oct. 8th, 2011|12:08 pm]
So it arrived! Hurrah! And it's lovely, shame really that it did not arrive in time for the Pakistani wedding I was planning to wear it to. The style would have fit in perfectly, but one can't always have things one's own way.

I plan to save it t wear at New Year's Eve instead.

But! I took a few poor quality pictures with my morning ick bed hair in case anyone wants to see (I was excited about the Ao Dai!)

And sometimes it is in a dramatic fashion. With some small minded, hypocritical bigotry and giving stupid reasons for it like "I'm just wired that way" a friend can irreperably damage an opinion.

I am disappointed, I had expected better from him.

Lifting Heavy Things [Aug. 20th, 2011|07:15 pm]

So, I don't know if this is going to sound impressive or pathetic, I have zero idea of what is and what isn't a good weight for a girl to be achieving. But for the last few months I have been working on a weight lift program which focuses on progression through bench press, deadlift and squats. Obviously with other exercises thrown in for good measure!

So today I did the Big Lift, last session in the program in an attempt to hit my goals.

In squats my goal was 60kg, or 132 pounds or 9.4 stone depending on how you want to look at it.
I managed 65 kilos, or 143 pounds, 10.2 stone. Which I was chuffed with!

In deadlift my goal was also 60kg, I managed 60. I reckon I could have taken 70 (154 pounds, 11 stone) but this was right at the end of a rather gruelling session so I stopped at my goal!

Sadly though I did not meet my bench press goal. I have to admit that this really upset me. I tried three times to lift it, but didn't quite manage. I hate not hitting my goals! So I will have to do two run up work outs through the week and have another crack at my bench press goal next saturday. I KNOW I can do it, not that I've managed it before, but the one step down was liftable so it was very frustrating.

My goal was 40 kilos, 88 pounds, 6.2 stone. I managed 37.5 kilo, 82.6 pounds, 5.9 stone.

Overall I think my numbers are good, but that bench failure really bugs me...
